Betty Cater Lee Obituary

Betty Ann Cater Lee, age 91, of McDonough, Georgia peacefully passed away on Tuesday, February 13, 2024, at the Oaks of Stockbridge. She was born on July 28, 1932, in Atlanta, Georgia, the daughter of Robert Claude Cater and Flara Meldora Arnold Cater. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by, her husband, James Furman Lee; brother, Bob Cater; and sister, Lucy Parlier.

Betty was a beacon of light and laughter, a woman of remarkable character, known for her quick wit, genuine kindness, and unwavering love for her family. She embodied the essence of goodness and simplicity throughout her life. Her humor, always clean and uplifting, brought joy to all who knew her. She had a rare gift of seeing the best in everyone and never uttered a negative word about another soul.

Betty's devotion to her family was unparalleled. She was the epitome of a loving mother and maw-maw, setting an example of unconditional love and support for generations to come. Her husband, Furman, was her partner in life for 47 years, and their love story was an inspiration to all who knew them. She felt she had the perfect husband and couldn't have been blessed with a better man. Even after his passing, she continued to share with others what an honorable marriage they shared.

A friend to all, Betty had a heart as expansive as the sky. She welcomed everyone with open arms and had a smile and a wave for every passing acquaintance. Her generosity knew no bounds, and she found joy in sharing her blessings with others. Faith was the cornerstone of Betty's life. She found solace and strength in her relationship with God and was a devoted member of her church community. Her love for singing and dancing reflected her joyful spirit, and she used her voice to praise the Lord and uplift those around her.

Even in the face of adversity, Betty remained steadfast in her positivity and grace. Throughout her battle with dementia, she continued to radiate happiness and contentment, never losing sight of what truly mattered in life. Betty's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will live on in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know her. Though she may no longer walk among us, her spirit will continue to inspire and guide us every day.

In honoring Betty's memory, let us strive to emulate her example of goodness, gratitude, and unwavering love for one another. She may be gone from this world, but her light will shine on forever in the lives she touched. And while Betty was known for her gentle demeanor, she was also refreshingly blunt, never hesitating to share what was on her mind, a trait that endeared her to all who knew her intimately.

She leaves behind her daughter, Tracy (Kipp) Yates; son, Richard Lee; grandchildren, Jessica (Chad) Ridgway, Jonathan Lee, Kipp (Kristin) Yates Jr.; great-daughter, Brielle Ridgway; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A Funeral Service to honor Betty's life will take place on Friday, February 16, 2024, beginning 2:00 PM in the East Chapel of Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors.
