He is survived by: his wife Markley Byrd (Hooker); his daughter Sarah Chartier; his stepdaughter Kelly Whittington (Chuck); his granddaughters, Mary-Blake Whittington and Samantha Whittington; and his siblings, Milinda Compton of Oak Ridge, TN, Alan Byrd, Gary Byrd (Wanda) and Randal Byrd (Stephannie) of Morganton, NC. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Salem United Methodist Church (1206 Salem Rd, Morganton, NC 28655).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the cemetery fund of Salem United Methodist Church.
