It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Sidney Mergens (McDonough, Georgia), born in Atlanta, Georgia, who passed away on June 22, 2025, at the age of 94, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, John Henry Mergens of Minnesota and Ethel Louise Glover of South Carolina; his siblings, Robert Lewis Mergens, Jacqueline Land, Margaret Wex and Helen Sweeney; and his wife Loretta Sue Hall.
He is survived by: his daughters, Susan Delores Mergens and Sandra Jill Mergens; his sons-in-law, Scott Masters and Scott Keesey; his grandchildren, Shelby Masters, Peyton Masters, Taylor Masters, Kristen Edmondson and Brett Edmondson (Elianna); his stepgranddaughter Courtney Schneider (Austin); his great grandchildren, Dru and Rawson; his stepgrandchildren, Camden and Emilia Keesey; his great grandchild Willow Grace Lee; and also Glen Lee.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 28th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the McDonough First United Methodist Church (151 Macon St, McDonough, GA 30253).
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to the Tunnels to Towers Foundation.
