He was predeceased by: his parents, Ceburn Turner (C. T.) and Rubey Adams Turner; and his brother Sherrill Wendell Motes. He is survived by: his spouse Gail Purdom Motes; his children, April Motes Kemp (Al) and Jamey Motes (Sherrer); his grandchildren, Christian, Kinsley, Kiley, MaKenzie Grace and Nash Turner; his siblings, Raymon Motes (Ann), Durward Motes (Jean) and Marilyn Glisson; his siblings-in-law, Marie, Glynda Garner, Jonathan Smith and Paulette Smith; his godchildren, Polly Smith Braddy (Jimmy) and Will Smith; his caregiver Calley Mack; and his nephews, Christian Mercer, Nash Turner Motes, Will Smith, Jeffery Motes, Stephen Motes, Wendell Motes, Terry Lyles, Robbie Dollar, Wade Bowers, Cason Cheney, Britt Bird and Grant Davis. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, and cherished friends.
