Rita leaves behind cherished memories for friends, family, and all who had the privilege of knowing her. Rita’s life was marked by connections and experiences that touched those around her. Though she is no longer with us, the moments shared, the laughter, and the support she offered will continue to resonate. All who knew Rita will carry forward her memory in their hearts.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Albert Wilkerson and Mary Joyce Smith; and her brother Albert Jerry Wilkerson. She is survived by: her husband Kenneth Johnson; her children, Maria Lyn Ross, Nina K. Taylor, Jimmy Rogers Ross, Jr., Kathleen Joyce Wilkerson and Bradley Kenneth Wilkerson; and her brother Louis Patrick Wilkerson (Robin). She is also survived by 8 grandchildren and a number of other relatives.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 7th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Williams Funeral Home Chapel.
