He was predeceased by: his father Lamar; the mother of his children Matthews; and his brother W. D. Palmer. He is survived by: the mother of his children Martha; his children, Ricky Palmer (Kathy) and Lisa Palmer Stribling (Robert); his grandchildren, Jason Palmer, Hannah Beesley, Jacob Palmer, Katie Barton, Hunter Leachmon, MaCall Brooks, Jennifer Mosley and Sam; and his brother Harold. He is also survived by Sibling, and Emily Stribling; and 12 great-grandchildren.
