He was predeceased by: his wife Margaret Clayton Thompson. He is survived by: his children, Rebecca T. Steele (Richard) of Toccoa, Ava C. Wojcik (James) of Good Hope and Lyman C. Thompson, Jr. (Renee) of Monroe; and his grandchildren, Keith Steele (Sally), Brett Steele (Kristy), Melissa Perry (Leland), Kim Dykes (Gary), Jay Crawford (Liv), Nina Goodrum (Weston), Rebecca Dowell (Brent), Jessica T. Preston, David Nackino (Odessa) and Nikki Snipes (Kenneth). He is also survived by 18 Great Grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, July 8th 2025 at 10:00 AM at the Eternal Hills Memory Gardens (3700 Stone Mountain Hwy, Snellville, GA 30039). A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 10th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the Wayfarer Hotel Music Hall (123 N Lumpkin St, Monroe, GA 30655).
