He was predeceased by : his daughter Brenda Artz; his parents, Theodore Artz and Victoria Artz (Lange) of Aberdeen, SD; and his siblings, Betty Hassenpflug, Joann Geist and Doug Artz.

He is survived by : his wife Debra Artz of Monroe, GA; his children, Grant (Seana Artz), Gary (Owen Artz), Gale (Mike Mullins), Karen Artz (Rich Winfield) and Linda (Joey Torrossian); and his grandchildren, Axel Artz, Brandon Artz-Winfield, Luke Artz-Winfield, Ashlie Artz Miller, Ashley Artz Howard, Hayley Artz, Tim Hoppie and Cody Hoppie.
