He was predeceased by: his parents, Rosa Spivey Cody and Jack Hunter; and his brother Willie Cody. He is survived by: his children, Ronnie Bernard Lloyd of Atlanta, Georgia and Courtney Nicole Laster of Beverly Hills, California; his grandchildren, Christopher Whorley (Rio), DeMontae Ball, Brooklynn Jarrett, Kollin Zapata, Syven Whorley and Khyro Ball; his brothers, Clarence Fields (Betty) of Miami, Florida and Lee Curgil (Wanda) of Miami, Florida; his cousins, Brenda Ellis of Montezuma, Gary Roberts of Montezuma and Minister Clarence Witchard (Joann) of Atlanta, Georgia; his friends, Leonard Wynn of Atlanta, Georgia and Marcia Laster of Beverly Hills, California; and his caregiver Shiquinna Mumford.
After some time, Cody's health started to decline, and he moved back home and was a patient at Montezuma Health and Rehabilitation Center until the outbreak of COVID.
