John Kenny Thompson Obituary
We announce the death of John Kenny Thompson of Morganton, Georgia, who passed away on September 10, 2026, at the age of 72. John Kenny will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam J. Thompson and Lula Brassell Thompson; his brothers, Sammie Thompson and James Thompson; and his grandson Emmett Thompson.
He is survived by: his wife Frances Amos Thompson; his sons, Joshua Kenneth Thompson (Katy) of Thomasville, GA and Seth J. Thompson (Rachel) of Savannah, GA; his grandchildren, Trammell, Mary Evenal, Ozie, Beata and Julian Thompson of Thomasville, GA; and his siblings, Donnie Thompson of San Antonio, TX, Kary Thompson of Spartanburg, SC and Kathy T. Shaw of Pine Mountain, GA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the Faith Presbyterian Church (1349 Bluebird Rd, Mineral Bluff, GA 30559). A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 3rd 2026 from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM at the same location. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Barnwell County Memorial Cemetery (11802 Ellenton St, Barnwell, SC 29812).
