He was predeceased by : his parents, Walter Richards and Agnes Ray. He is survived by : his wife Danya Simpson Richards; his children, Lee Richards (Brenda) and Michael Richards (Christi); and his grandchildren, Tyler Richards (Elizabeth), Carson Richards (Shelley) and Abigail Richards (Michael).

Visitation was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Calendar Thomas L. Scroggs Funeral Directors (6362 S Lee St, Morrow, GA 30260). A funeral service was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, April 22nd 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Forest Lawn Cemetery in College Park.

In lieu of flowers donations are requested to be made to Hapeville Methodist Church.
