He was predeceased by: his parents, Lucille Franks Burgess and Joseph Freeman Burgess. He is survived by: his brothers, J. F. Burgess (Joyce) of Rome, Carson Burgess (Nancy) of Summerville and Dennis Burgess of Nashville, Georgia.. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, along with countless friends, former students, coworkers, and his beloved church family.
Visitation was held on Tuesday, December 2nd 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Albritton Funeral Directors (1020 Tift Ave N, Tifton, GA 31794). A funeral service was held on Wednesday, December 3rd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A burial was held on Wednesday, December 3rd 2025 at the Oak Ridge Cemetery.
