We are sad to announce that on February 16, 2024, at the age of 71, James Edward Smith of Mount Airy, Georgia, born in Demorest, Georgia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by : his parents, James Hoyt Smith and Katie Jane Beck Smith; his former life partner Betty Franklin; and his sister Cheryl Meeks. He is survived by : his wife Doris Galloway Smith of Mt. Airy; his children, Clifford Smith (Sherry) of Mt. Airy and Jennifer Reed (Chris) of Murrayville; his stepdaughters, Christy Thompson (Eric) of Cornelia, Rebecca Patterson (Chris) of Clayton and Julie Fortenberry (David) of Young Harris; his nephew Billy Sellers (Tara) of Cornelia; and his cousin Phyllis Cantrell (Jack) of Mt. Airy. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren.
