He was predeceased by: his parents, Herman Aaron Newman and Gladys Lillian Robertson; his brother Michael Douglas Newman; and his brother-in-law Douglas Thomas. He is survived by: his wife Opal Prater Newman; his sons, Donald "Scott" Newman (Lynn) of Mount Zion, GA, Eric Emory Newman (Thomas Smith) of Augusta, GA, Gregory Jay Newman (Tammy) of Munford, AL and Travis Lynn (Lisa) of Kingsport, TN; and his sister Joy Thomas of Marietta, GA.. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren.
