He was predeceased by: his parents, Jessie Floyd Sumner and Thelma Baldree Sumner; and his siblings, Marie Crosby, Josephine Beaver, James Sumner, Martha Engle, Diane Lamontagne, Frankie Sumner, Faye Bratcher, Dean Sumner, Jean Vann and William "Bill" Sumner.
He is survived by: his children, Michael Sumner (Allyson) of Hortense and Nicole Tomberlin (Shon) of Alma; his grandchildren, Danielle, Blake, Payton, Austin, Wyatt, Taylor (Jodi) and Jase; his great grandchildren, Baylor, Tripp, Jesse and Coleman; his sister Carlis Sumner of Chiefland, Florida; and his sister-in-law Debra Sumner. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
