He was predeceased by: his parents, Luther Franklin Smith and Evelyn Davis Smith; and his brother Luther Franklin "Frankie" Smith, Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Tammy Smith of Newnan; his children, Martin Smith, Jr. (Misty), Jessica Elliott (Michael), Kristy Ford (Joseph), Ashley Thompson, Rhonda Robertson (Trey), Cheyenne Smith and Gracie Betsill (Bradley); his brothers, Dr. Davis Smith (Carol) and Tim Smith (Anne); and his sister-in-law Elaine Smith. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 2nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Westside Baptist Church (762 Smokey Rd, Newnan, GA 30263).
