He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph T. Berta, Jr. and Elizabeth Lamonby Berta; and his sister Susan Patricia Berta of Atlanta, GA.. He is survived by: his wife Susan Franks Berta (Susie) of Newnan, GA; his sons, Scott Andrew Berta (Valerie) of Newnan, GA and James Nicholas "Nick" Berta (Olga) of Hong Kong, China; his siblings, Joseph Berta III (Shelly) of New Canaan, CT, Peter Stephen Berta of Atlanta, GA, Lisa Anne Willard (Bob) of Milford, MI and David Michael Berta (Jane) of Jacksonville, FL; and his brother-in-law Lawrence Michael Franks (Ellen Berelsen). He is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.
