He was predeceased by: his parents, C. Purgason Purgason and Nora Lee Adams Purgason; and his siblings, J. W. Purgason, James Hugh Purgason, Bobby Gene Purgason, Doyle Fuller Purgason, Betty Decker and Frances Ann South Mitchell.
He is survived by: his wife Ilene Wright Purgason; his daughter Kimberly Elrod (Joe); and his grandchildren, Zoe Elrod, Sam Elrod and Logan Vickery. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
