He was predeceased by: his parents, Roy Payton and Wannell Payton (McCumbers); his wife Patricia Vanderpol Payton; his granddaughter Ashlyn Payton; and his sister Trudie Nettles.
He is survived by: his sons, Derrick Payton of Leesburg, Corey Payton of Leesburg and Ted Payton (Brandie) of Douglas, Georgia; his granddaughter Danielle Payton; his great grandchild Nova Laz Cono; and his siblings, Alvin Payton (Judy) of Douglas, Georgia, Mary Ward (Bob) of Lumber City, Billie Aguilar (Pedro) of Douglas and Cindy Ricketson (Ronnie) of Broxton, Georgia. He is also survived by nieces, nephews.
