He was predeceased by : his parents, William Harvey Tanner and Barbara Overstreet Tanner; his brothers, Ronnie Tanner and Mike Tanner; and his uncle J. M. Overstreet.

He is survived by : his children, Mitch Tanner (Cortney) of Thomasville, Jasmine Jordan (Carlton) of Byron, GA and Matthew Tanner of Thomasville; his grandchildren, Kinsley Tanner, Ellie Tanner, Amaya Wells and Kyson Jordan; and his sisters, Sandra Rivera (Rolando) of Orlando, FL and Lorene Bell (Ken) of Moultrie, GA.. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
