He was predeceased by : his father Elijah Simmons; and his brother Stanley Simmons. He is survived by : his wife Bonnie Jinks Simmons of Oglethorpe, Georgia; his children, Cynthia Avery (Tommy) of Oglethorpe, Steven Simmons (Cheryl) of Bossier City, Ken Fowler (Shelia) of Perry, Rodney Fowler (Lauren) of Statesboro and Brock Simmons (Lindsey) of Leesburg, Georgia; his sister Lynda Rose "Cindy" Williams of Madison; and his grandchildren, Marcus Raper, Joseph Raper (Stephanie), Mathew Raper, Karlee Avery, Ciji Cox (Michael), Vicki Teale (Lance), Bobby Avery (Stephanie), Andrew Fowler, Hannah Fowler, Hillary Fowler, Audrey Fowler, Reese Fowler, Floyd Simmons, Zack Simmons, Stephanie Anfinson (Taylor), Bubba Bishop, Kayla Wright, Kinsley Wright and Mary Kathryn Wright. He is also survived by 22 great-grandchildren along with many nieces and nephews.
