He was predeceased by : his parents, William Woodrow and Ruby Smith Mitchell; his brothers, Rex Mitchell (Barbara), William Mitchell (Peggy) and Melvin Mitchell (Caroline); and his son Jeffrey Mitchell (Shirlene).
He is survived by : his wife Mary Mitchell; his sons, Samuel Mitchell (Kelly), Elson Mitchell (Gail) and William "Bill" James Mitchell (Leslie); and his siblings, Johnny Mitchell (Marge) and Doris Loyd (late Terrel). He is also survived by several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
