He was predeceased by : his parents, Roy Shelnutt and Mary Eugenia Shelnutt (Burkhalter); and his wife Janet Sue Shelnutt (Luwman). He is survived by : his children, Benjamin Shelnutt (Kelly) of Bonaire, GA and Leah Baker (Robert) of Perry, GA; and his siblings, Tracie Daye (Daryl) of Fort Valley, GA and Joey Shelnutt (Dena) of Fort Valley, GA.. He is also survived by 9 grandchildren.

Visitation was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel (2932 US Hwy 41, Fort Valley, GA 31030). A funeral service was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Friday, April 26th 2024 at 3:00 PM at the Perry Memorial Gardens (2106 Macon Rd, Perry, GA 31069).
