He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam Jack Pettyjohn Sr. and Margaret Pettyjohn (Grace); and his sister-in-law Helen Trulock Pettyjohn. He is survived by: his wife Cheryl Pettyjohn (Gnagy); his children, Sam Jack Deslover (Melissa) of Kingsland, Roy Capps (Raquel) of Mont Belvieu, Ryan Higgins (Irene) of Cameron, Molly Pettyjohn of Waynesboro, Gracie McLendon (Rob) of Bainbridge and Kimberly Williams (James); and his brother William Thad Pettyjohn of Climax. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.
