He was predeceased by: his wife June Bowen-Rush; his parents, Kate Rush and Wallace Rush; and his children, Joe Wallace Rush Jr. "Jody" and Jennifer Kate Rush-Crawford "Jenny".
He is survived by: his daughter Joy Rush-Barlow; his son-in-law Shawn Gay of Reidsville; his brother Danny; his sister-in-law Stephanie Rush of Glennville; and his grandchildren, Adrianna Barlow, Shontelle Mobley, Kaitlyn Crawford, Sarah Crawford, Nathan Tanner, Braylen Jarriel and Zack Bowen.
