It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ernest Berton Rutledge of Resaca, Georgia, who passed away on December 11, 2025, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. In the vast expanse of eternity, Ernest shall find rest, cradled in the arms of everlasting peace. And as we bid Ernest farewell, his loved ones carry with them the precious gift of his memory, a beacon of hope guiding them through the shadows of sorrow towards the light of a new dawn.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Seaborn Rutledge and Golda Mae Edwards Rutledge; and his brother Marvin Rutledge. He is survived by: his wife Sue Rutledge; his son Eric Burton Rutledge (Debra); his granddaughter Ericka Kile; his great grandchildren, Weston Dawson (Kaleigh), Jaxon and Kyzer; and his sister Edna Joyce.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at the Thomas Funeral Home (535 Red Bud Rd NE, Calhoun, GA 30701). A funeral service will be held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 at 3:00 PM at the same location.
