He was predeceased by: his wife Dimple Sue Brown Smith; his son JW Lamar Smith; his parents, Benjamin Smith and Josie Smith; and his siblings, Alma, Pearline, Elsie, Opal, Bernice, Ann, Dimple Sue, Martha, Hulen and Douglas.
He is survived by: his children, Denton Smith, Lamont Smith (Angie) and Suzanne Wilson (Addison); his sister Jean Arrington; and his pet Baby. He is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great- grandchildren, great great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Chapel of Love Funeral Home (1402 N Thornton Ave, Dalton, GA 30720). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 4:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested to make donations to the Humane Society of NWGA, 1210 Veterans Dr. Dalton, GA. 30721.
