He was predeceased by: his father James Simmons (Jim); and his grandparents, Arnold, Kathryn Handy, Clyde and Ruby Rahn.
He is survived by: his husband Bruce V. Knotts-Simmons; his mother Jacquelyn Simmons (Jackie); his siblings, Scott Simmons and Dawn Leu; and his sister-in-law Sandra (Verle Schlabach). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
