He was predeceased by : his parents, Joe Dean and Alma Ruth Short Garren of Dayton, TN.. He is survived by : his wife Cheri Daffron Garren; his son Matthew A. Sylar; his daughter-in-law Rebekah Pippin Sylar; and his grandson David Allen Mathis Sylar. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
