He is survived by: his children, Alyson Costner-Holt (Scott) of Saluda, Virginia, Carrie Doan (Scott) of Miami, James "Jim" Costner (Amanda) of Ringgold, Georgia and Mary Jane Costner of Ringgold. He is also survived by six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
