He was predeceased by: his parents, John E. Griffey, Sr. and Opal Inez Griffey (Long); his daughter Angela Michelle Griffey Moore; and his siblings, Charlotte Brown, Judy Griggs, Gary Griffey and Marilyn McDaniels.
He is survived by: his wife Jacqueline Griffey; his son John E. Griffey, III; his grandchildren, Hayden Moore, Harrison Moore, Jackson Moore, Griffin Moore, Karsyn Moore, Alexis Griffey and Samuel Griffey; and his sister-in-law Irma Griffey. He is also survived by extended family members, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 6th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the South Crest Chapel of Lane Funeral Home (833 Chickamauga Ave, Rossville, GA 30741). A graveside service was held on Monday, September 7th 2026 at 9:30 AM at the Chattanooga National Cemetery (1200 Bailey Ave, Chattanooga, TN 37404).
