He was predeceased by: his parents, Lee Smith and Bertie Minton Smith; his daughter Delinda Conaway; and his siblings, Bernice Key, Margie Thomas, Mammie Hendon, Willard Smith and LeBron Smith.
He is survived by: his wife Faye Smith; his daughter Alicia Vanhorn (Kenneth) of Rock Spring, Georgia; his grandsons, Tommy and Chris Vanhorn; and his great grandchildren, Isaiah, Hunter and Mallory Vanhorn. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and many dear friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 19th 2026 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM at the W. L. Wilson & Sons Funeral Home-Ft. Oglethorpe Chapel (555 Cloud Springs Rd, Ft. Oglethorpe, GA 30742). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 20th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the same location.
