He is survived by: his wife Shirley Akins Smith; his children, Jay Smith (Leonda), Rana Lively (Nick) and Brandon Smith (Brandy); his grandchildren, Waylon Jay Smith, Jr., Kayla Smith, Dadrian Huggins, Dashun Huggins, Summer Benefield and Cain Holbrooks; his great grandchild Jameson Benefield; and his siblings, Loretta Reed (Gary), Molly Reed, Lacreta Lawson (Jim), Drama Sopher (Gary), Denny Smith (Margaret) and David Smith. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
