It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Bertha Bridges Payne Boyd of Rome, Georgia, who passed away on August 5, 2023, at the age of 91, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Seaborn Horace Bridges and Annie Stansell Bridges; her former husband Geston Tolliver Payne; her husband Paul Boyd; her siblings, Harry Bridges, Louise Burk and Estelle Headrick; and her son James Seaborn Payne.

She is survived by: her daughter Gesta Riggs (Richard); her grandsons, Nicholas Riggs (Johna) and Ethan Riggs; her great grandchildren, Sam Masters and Graham Riggs; and her stepsons, Wayne Boyd (Janet) and Gary Boyd. She is also survived by several step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, Bertha requested memorial donations to be made to either St. Jude Childrens Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.
