He was predeceased by: his parents, G. W. Smith and Catherine Jones Smith; and his brother Gary Smith. He is survived by: his wife Kay Puryear Smith; his children, Rev. Larry Brent "Chip" Smith, Jr. (Starla) of Cedar Bluff, AL and Amy Massey (Nat); and his grandchildren, Emily Smith, Jenna Smith Moore (Jack) and Wil Massey (Megan Massey).
