He was predeceased by: his parents, Melvin Patterson and Minnie Lee Patterson; his wife Betty Freeman Patterson; his daughter Choya Stephens; and his brothers, Dexter Patterson, Rudolph Patterson and Billy Patterson.
He is survived by: his children, Joan Nelson (Tony), Chuck Patterson (Kathy), Billy Patterson and Patrick Patterson (Vickie); his grandchildren, Nikki Radford, Carly Spivey (Tim), Anna Adams (Chase), Corey Patterson (Caity), Meghan Robbins (Colby) and Nick Nelson (Carmen DelReal); his great grandchildren, Brady Goodson, Brandon Radford, Brooke Radford, Anderson Adams, Davis Adams, Taylan Spivey, Zaylee Spivey, Branton Robbins, Bowen Robbins and Saoirse Patterson; his siblings, Bryan Patterson and Patsy Patterson Sheehan; and his close friend Raynell Waters. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
