Ethel Idell Childers Obituary

We are sad to announce that, on January 28, 2026, at the age of 98, Ethel Idell Childers of Rome, Georgia passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

Though Ethel has departed this earthly realm, her legacy endures — a legacy of love that will continue to illuminate the lives of family and friends in the darkest of hours. May her spirit soar on wings of eternal peace, forever cherished in the tender embrace of memory.

She was predeceased by: her parents, John Henry Zickler and Cora Pearl Lax Zickler; her grandfather Fredrick Zickler; her husband Jack Wilburn Childers, Sr.; and her son Jack Wilburn Childers, Jr..

She is survived by: her daughter Carolyne Nichols Murphy; and her grandson William Rand Nichols. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully request donations be made to Good Neighbors Ministry or North Broad Baptist Church Home Bound Ministry.
