Harry James Taft Jr. Obituary
Harry James Taft, Jr., age 85, of Rome passed away Sunday June 6, 2021. Mr. Taft was born in Rochester, New York. Harry was a licensed minister of the gospel and loved to serve in his community and was very devoted to the Lord. For 18 years he led Bible studies in the local nursing homes. Harry served his country proudly for 5 years in the United States Air Force.
Mr. Taft worked and later retired from Rochester Gas and Electric. Harry was preceded in death by his parents: Harry James Taft, Sr. and Dorothy Knight Taft; 2 children; and 2 brothers. Survivors include his wife: Elvadean "Dee" Taft, 6 children: Art, Jon, Tim, Mark (Karen), Laura (Tim), Brenda (Tony), 3 step children: Ken (Sara), Dan (Scarlene), Tori (Kasper); several grandchildren and great grandchildren; 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
He will be missed by a host of family and friends. Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday June 13, 2021 at Community Chapel Baptist Church, 3773 Blacks Bluff Road, Rome GA. 30161. With Rev. Max Tucker and Rev. Kasper Underwood officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2451 Crystal Drive Suite 900, Arlington, VA. 22202.
