It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Helen Ruth Mathis of Rome, Georgia, born in Dalton, Georgia, who passed away on December 25, 2022, at the age of 89, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, George Bryson and Maggie Davis Bryson; her husband Wade Loy Mathis; her son Michael Ownbey; and her daughter-in-law Debra Ownbey.
She is survived by: her children, Dianne Morrow (Don), Mickey Ownbey, Denise Carter (Jimmy) and Gary Mathis (Mark); her grandchildren, Chastity Taylor (Courtney), J. C. Davis, III, Kyle Morrow (Starr), Jessica Agan (Josh), Jason Ownbey (Brandy), Holly Bagley (Jay), Aaron Ownbey (Lindsay), Brittany Walker (Clint), Hannah Kirby (Eric) and Quintin Carter (Brittney); and her close friend Roscoe. She is also survived by 24 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren; the favorite child.
