He was predeceased by: his parents, H. Herbert McCartney and Frances Gass McCartney; and his wife Dale Cooper McCartney. He is survived by: his daughter Enger McCartney-Smith (David) of Mount Holly; and his grandchildren, Aliya Smith, Iain Smith and Jacob Smith.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made to The Gary Sinise Foundation or The Tuskegee Airmen National Museum.
