He is survived by: his son John Matthew Helbing, Jr. (Ruth); his grandchildren, Jacklyn and Elliot; his siblings, Christine Helbing Cantrell (Tony), Timothy Helbing (Tammy), James Helbing (Jennifer) and Thomas Helbing (Jennifer); his sisters-in-law, Angela Shelby Sanford and Jeanne Shelby Krueger (Mark); and his significant other Timothy Brown. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, October 16th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 5:45 PM at the North Chapel (4900 Martha Berry Hwy, Rome, GA 30165). A wake was held on Friday, October 16th 2026 at 6:00 PM at the same location.
