She was predeceased by: her husband Hugh Don Mathis; her parents, Ervin Broom and Birma Bell Dewberry Broom; and her siblings, C. E. Broom, Sr., Calvin Broom, William Broom (Billy), Wilma Fitzgerald and Louise Trapp.
She is survived by: her daughter Felicia Mathis Couch (Ray); her grandchildren, Jay Couch (Rachel) and Julie Couch Winstead (Seth); her great grandchildren, Addi Couch, Jack, Nate, Sawyer and Rhys Winstead; her siblings, Alma Dowdy, Franklin Broom and Lasker Broom; Mary Alice Ray, Joyce Loveless and Harborview of Tradition's Hospice. She is also survived by family members and friends.
Charitable contributions in memory of Mrs. Mathis can be made to the Pleasant Valley South Baptist Church Heritage Fund, the Georgia Baptist Children's home or The Living Vine, Savannah, GA.
