He was predeceased by: his parents, William Julius Mathis and Wilma Nell Tharpe Mathis; and his wife Diane Routh Mathis. He is survived by: his children, Nancy O'Grady (Shawn) and Bill Mathis (Libby); his grandson Wyatt Mathis; his brother William "Jacky" Mathis (Janice); his nephews, Flint Mathis (Kelly) and Jace Mathis; and his great-nephew Julius Mathis.
