She was predeceased by: her parents, Seaborn Solomon and Gladys Walraven Everett; and her brothers, Alton F. and William S. Everett. She is survived by: her husband Thomas D. Caldwell, III (Jan) of Huntsville; her children, Laura Caldwell Anderson (Will) of Birmingham and Watson Everett Caldwell (Jody) of Huntsville; her grandson Walter Anderson; her sisters-in-law, Juanita Everett of Everett Springs and Nettie Everett of Rome; Mary Caldwell of Alpharetta. She is also survived by nieces and nephews.
Over the years and with help from neighborhood friends in old East Rome, Melanie collected thousands upon thousands of aluminum cans, donating proceeds to the nonprofit DIGS (Developing Independence, Growth & Security), Inc.
