He was predeceased by: his parents, Richard Donald Johnson Sr. and Rachael Pauline Stack Johnson; his mother-in-law Juanita Mize; and his daughter-in-law Brandi Cornett Mathis. He is survived by: his wife Jennifer Mize Johnson; his children, Brandi Mathis Aiken, Stacie Mathis Bishop (Jeremy), Rick Mathis (Amanda), Trey Johnson, Drew Johnson (April) and Rebecca Johnson Hicks (Mike); his grandchildren, Caitlyn Mathis, Noah Bishop, Baylee Bishop, Ashley Aiken, Kaiden Tricoglou, Dakota Steele and Logan Johnson; his siblings, Mike Johnson, Bobby Johnson and Debbie Johnson Perry (Richard); and his friends, Robbie Johnson and Jimmy Burkeen. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
