He was predeceased by: his parents, J. Orvil Smith and Rachel Overby Smith; and his stepson Melvin Satterfield. He is survived by: his wife Janie Potts Smith; his children, Linda Burke, Mike Smith, Joan Kines, Jerry Satterfield, Janice Turner and Ricky Smith; and his grandchildren, Kirk Rickman (Jan), Mark Rickman (Lori), Kelly Hardy (Michael), William Burke, David Burke, Jacob Kines (Valarie), Bradley Satterfield, Ryan Satterfield, Chris Charles (Jessica), Ashley Harcrow (Jesse), Del Moses (Angela), Jeni Moses, Daniel Moses, Michael Smith and Elizabeth Palopoli (Matthew).
