We are sad to announce that on February 26, 2024, at the age of 72, Shirley Elizabeth Statton of Rome, Georgia, born in Brooklyn, New York passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by : her parents, Aaron Jack Halyard and Mary Elizabeth Kinsey Halyard; her husband Harold David Statton; and her siblings, Ida Nottingham (Linda) and Aaron Halyard.

She is survived by : her children, Utamu Lackey (Kenneth), Takama Statton-Brooks (Roger, Jr.), Sukari Statton-Bill (Peter) and Amani Statton-Wood (Patrick); and her sister Veronica Chestnut (Marion). She is also survived by 10 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins.

“Shirley visited our American Legion Post 52 and she & Harold fit right in with us. She was a true friend and quickly began her volunteer work with us , even walking around with her oxygen . A true Military spouse ! Always ask are you taking care of yourself & John ? Our VP / membership , baked many apple bread for our food booth . Shirley we miss you & love your spirit of your kindness and doing what you did without a thought ❤️”
