With sadness, we share the passing of William Joe Self of Rome, Georgia. William, born on August 31, 1931, passed away on September 24, 2026. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his son John Oliver Self; his grandchild Hillary Chisolm; his parents, Willie Oliver Self and Ina Carter Self; and his siblings, Theresa Self, Winston Self, Newell Self, Nowell Self, Harold Self, John Self and Madelle Self Lawrence.
He is survived by: his spouse Wetonia Faye Self; his daughter Carolyn Chisolm (Johathan); and his grandson Jonathan Chisolm, II.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27th 2026 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and on Monday, September 28th 2026 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Salmon Funeral Home (2516 New Calhoun Hwy NE, Rome, GA 30161). A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at 2:00 PM at the Self Going Home. A burial will be held on Monday, September 28th 2026 at the East View Cemetery (725 Kingston Ave NE, Rome, GA 30161).
