He was predeceased by : his parents, Robbie Alexander Merrell Sr. and Marie Pettey Merrell; and his wife Retta Roundtree Merrell. He is survived by : his daughters, Susan (Phil Cantrell) and Nancy (Michael Moore); his brother Charles; his sister-in-law Linda Merrell; and his former life partner Rebecca Dean Fordyce.
