He was predeceased by: his wife Edna Sue Smith; his parents, Roy Smith and Myrtle Smith; his sister Gerry Brooks; and his grandsons, James Johnson Jr., Jay Yancy and Derrick Hartung.
He is survived by: his children, Mike Hartung, Karen Rodell (Rick), Donna Marrow (Mike), Terry Connor and Jim Johnson (Diane). He is also survived by eleven grandchildren, several great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.
